The Royal Galician Philharmonic was born as an ambitious cultural project in Santiago de Compostela in 1996. Made up of 50 musicians and an administrative team of 6 people, it has its permanent headquarters in the Galicia Auditorium. Paul Daniel is, since 2013, the main and artistic director of the formation and Maximino Zumalave its associate director. In 2020 Joana Carneiro joins as the main guest director.
The objectives of the RFG are focused on disseminating classical music throughout the Galician territory, always seeking the highest levels of artistic excellence through collaboration with directors and instrumentalists of the highest level and with a firm commitment to stimulating talent and musical training of children and young people
Currently, the Real Filharmonía de Galicia is consolidated as one of the most important and recognized Galician musical initiatives, committed to the search for synergies with other cultural institutions in the regional, national and international spheres and in the dissemination of the culture that is does in Galicia beyond our territory.
